In 100 years, long after the United States has broken into Baltic states, there will be a reunification movement and people will ask “why do they want to invade Texas?”. There will be politicians who’s whole political careers will be built on the promise they can make the United States one country again. Understand this and you will understand China and Taiwan.

Funny enough I did just that. The COVID shutdown was just about the best my life had ever been. My wife and I bought a house in the mountains in a town with 1000 people. Behind my house is thousands of acres of forest. We live like a retired couple and I’ve never been happier. I have learned how to live within my personal stimulation threshold.

The more I have disconnected from society the happier I have become. I just can’t do open hand gestures all of this… Anymore. I’m not doing the Nazi era.

Also there’s the issue of h2o2 introducing oxygen to the wound. So while yes, some bacteria may be killed, you are encouraging others to grow. “Bacteria” isn’t a single thing. It’s a whole ecosystem. It’s like, ok great you killed all the wolves. Now we have bears.

I believe that the polar plot of prime numbers that reveals spirals and rays and when extended out to millions of numbers shows deeper fractals and geometric patterns is a glimpse into the structure of something we haven’t yet discovered.

Maybe it’s the higher dimensional structure of a photon, maybe it’s something we don’t even know about, but the fact that math describes everything in our universe EXCEPT prime numbers sounds like nonsense. There’s something staring us right in the face that we can’t see yet.

I really think it’s a cultural thing. It would be like me(an American) saying “how can I be more Japanese?”

To put a finer point on it, Americans have grown up in a culture where self expression and social interaction is encouraged. So we are less afraid of approaching a stranger for casual conversation. Add to that the fact that we, culturally, have very low self awareness. All we know is what offends other Americans. We rarely have the social intelligence to modify our behavior to match our surroundings.

So while, yes, Germans may be more reserved by nature; don’t think that is a value judgement. If you want to be more outgoing do it in a German way. Americans are the way we are because we are Americans.

That said, if I could offer a suggestion to mitigate your social anxiety; I would suggest that other people don’t think about you and your behavior anywhere near as much as you think they do. Most people don’t give a shit. If you can’t think of anything to say but you want to start a conversation a compliment is always a winning strategy. But nothing is a substitute for genuine curiosity.
