20 years sounds incredibly optimistic for any Samsung appliance.

That doesn’t seem true though, most actual leftists don’t like tankies and the people on Lemmy complaining about tankies seem to mostly be leftists themselves. Tankies are like LaRouchites, no one takes them seriously because the things they profess tend to be silly and they usually have that obnoxious College freshman master-debater energy. It’s not a left or right thing.

I upvote things I disagree with if they contribute to the discourse in some way.

Yes, I only use it via syncthing-fork so this is a distinction without a difference to me.

Not sure if I qualify as extra paranoid but this whole situation feels very sketchy and has me reconsidering my use of syncthing. Making significant changes like this without any explanation is extremely bad practice.

Sports paraphernalia or memorabilia.

This shit drives me nuts. I’ve put in a lot of effort to secure my accounts but a number of them require SMS without any opt out. We have known about the risks of SMS plenty long enough at this point.

That is correct, it’s been quite awhile now since UEFI became standard but almost everyone still calls it the BIOS. Although I’ve noticed the word firmware is starting to be used more as well.

If the company is doing crime, document and blow the whistle. If it’s evil in a way that doesn’t have legal consequences, try to start a union so they fire you, then cost them as much money as you can with lawyers.

If the doctor was intentionally made ill, whoever is responsible is to blame. Otherwise, shit happens and it’s a no harm no foul situation.
Israel is integral to their eschatology. They can’t have Armageddon without certain conditions being met. Supporting Israel is intended to facilitate the the creation of those conditions.

Probably and yes. From what I have seen there’s too much incriminating evidence for it to all be faked without assuming a level of competence from those involved that is very improbable.
21 and 17 can be a big gap, even 20 and 17 can be. It’s not as clear cut as 22, which can also be sketchy but is at least recognized as fully legal everywhere. I think there’s too much diversity in maturity and life experience at those young ages, the potential for issues increases so those kinds of relationships are inherently concerning in ways that relationships involving legal adults are not. I’m not saying they are inherently problematic, but if you know people with that kind of age gap you should be looking out for the underage person to ensure they aren’t being taken advantage of.
Are the pink things jelly beans?
Definitely a warning sign. It really depends on the specifics because people mature at different rates, but there’s a much higher chance of it being problematic. There’s the half your age plus 7 rule, but it doesn’t really work if you are under 22.
Tracking balloons is not easy, “our weather balloons” intentionally transmit their locations. There’s a lot more stuff floating around up there, some of it intentionally designed and operated not to be tracked. It’s relatively easy and affordable to put a big balloon way up there so all kinds of people do for all kinds of reasons.
I wouldn’t expect every balloon to be on any map, especially one available for free to the general public.
What kind of camera and lens? If it’s a phone camera, image processing could be a factor and it may look very different than the picture depicts. I would guess something shiny catching light is being distorted into what is seen in the image. I think it’s likely to be a high altitude balloon.
Ms. would have come across a little better. Boomer feminism appreciates the distinction.
