Thank you. I was mostly worried about running 5 screens at all times. Every mirror replacement system I’ve seen in pictures uses really bright screens and the E has 3 infotainment screens on top of that.

So if we count them as 5W each (12.3 main displays are probably hungrier, but camera displays are way smaller, and they’re almost certainly IPS), that’s ~25W, so 150 meters by your calculation? Doesn’t sound that bad tbh. And on top of that the 12.3" ones can be turned off.

I think those are legal where I’m at, but if you have both mirrors and cameras it should be allowed by default. Also in the case of Honda e, I wonder how much power the screens and “mirrors” are eating, in a tiny car like that it might be noticeable.

You don’t have to accept pairing, if both devices are discoverable they can see each other. It doesn’t have to be some app, you can be discoverable with 0 apps installed. That’s what I’m talking about with rudimentary tracking.

edit: pairing mode = discoverable, accepting pairing is not required, and obv the machine has to be perma discoverable for “tracking” to work

Anyone with a spectrum analyzer can see people using their earbuds, they can’t deduce any useful information from that. Several analyzers? Yea, can triangulate signals, so what. They still can’t know for sure who they belong to, since BT doesn’t transmit identifying info unless you’re pairing (aka discoverable), and even then it can be randomized.

A typical fast food restaurant has dozens, if not hundreds of wifi and bt devices. Nothing surprising when your phone has to fight to get loud enough for your buds.

From a quick search, bluetooth classic has 79 channels, and if there’s 2.4Ghz Wifi in use, it has 14 in damn near the same frequency range.

If you’re worried about tracking - there are far easier ways to do that than hope your BT devices are discoverable and then try and match the (possibly randomized) device IDs to you.

Depends on the device, there was a story recently of a Nissan infotainment system that was perma-pairing as long as you had the options screen open afaik. If your earbuds are pairing close by, as is the machine - you can probably make some rudimentary motion tracking. Gonna be inaccurate as hell though, and it relies on both devices permanently being in pairing mode.

I wasn’t really suggesting the taycan, luxury cars are heavy by default, and the whole car (while beautiful) isn’t making good use of it’s interior. Not exactly a family car. Just saying that so far it’s the only euro wagon with 70+ batteries.

TLDR: affordable midsize suv on an ev platform is most likely better at being an EV than a luxury executive wagon built on an ice (derived) platform

I don’t think you’ll find anything significantly lighter @ 70kwh, i4 comes to mind but its only like 100kg lighter. i3 with a 70 battery is about 130kg lighter

The only electric wagon with serious battery capacity is the Taycan lol, at least until bmw and audi offerings come to dealerships. So, you’ll be paying for (mostly) unnecessary luxury and thus weight.
I hope PSA come out with something cool but I’m not holding my breath, afaik they’re still at 54kw, though efficiency is better than their old stuff.

I meant like a weather app with whole day predictions, but outside in place of a regular (mercury) thermometer. I hate using the word “smart”, it just has to show stuff from some weather api, maybe on an e-ink/stn display?

Has anyone tried making an analogue-looking thermometer that also has weather prediction data? Then you’d only need to look outside
