  • Anubis does its thing, shows me cute art, then leaves without elaborating. It’s a mostly non-intrusive, individual/community effort to protect people against big tech and abusive scrapers. I usually see it in open source community websites that were getting hammered by LLM scrapers.

Cloudflare’s is a corporate solution from the company that man-in-the-middles half the internet and makes me click shit every fucking time. I see it whenever I make the mistake of following a stackoverflow link.

You’re goddamn right my reaction is accordingly different.

  • It’s not perfect, sure, but we as a society should be capable of deciding that some things aren’t okay without giving the state carte blanche to censor as they see fit. If the system can be abused, then we ought to fix it, not forgo it entirely.

Plus, governments and companies already suppress or ban a bunch of speech, often in favor of the ruling class. I doubt outlawing harmful speech like parent comment suggests would be the straw that breaks democracy’s back.

  • Ironic. The translator and artist were the first ones to be killed, and now we got this bastardized AI “translation” that’s actually an entirely different image, but worse.

This is why so many were confused about “personal,” I believe it’s a popular borrowed term in Brazil that simply means personal trainer.

Not personnel, not HR, not personal assistant, nor an AI hallucination, even as some confidently claimed them, all because the original work was discarded for a shitty alternative, much like workers themselves.

  • Strawman. You’re implying that OP believes hate speech can’t encroach on the freedom of others. Nothing in their post leads me to believe they think that.

    From their post:

If someone wants to say there is a master race … Sure: they’re free to say it.

Tell me where discussions of a master race will lead, if not putting down the lesser races. Tell me how that doesn’t affect their freedom. Tell me how that’s not hate.

Many seem to agree on “Freedom of speech, as long it doesn’t harm others’ freedom,” but too many don’t understand what harm is.

  • Sometimes, while seeing discourse about the US, I think our region should try to better align itself with Europe, that stronger connections and cooperation could benefit us both.

Then I see how Europeans get when our name comes up and it’s no wonder we’re calling China instead. Sure, they don’t care about us either, but at least they put on an act and we might get something out of it rather than just racism and neocolonialism.

Really, I’m steadily approaching the point where I wouldn’t mind much if you all nuked each other out of existence, much like you wouldn’t care if we disappeared either. In the absence of names, no such thing as friends beyond borders.
