I’d be hesitant to join if it means giving up monetary sovereignty.
That’s a huge shackle on anything the federal government could do fiscally.
The idea of gaining protection from us crazy Americans? Totally valid.

My villain choice: Lex Luthor
My hero choice: The Martian Manhunter
Why must it be balanced?
Americans import more than we export. They use the word “deficit” to make it scary.
These other countries would prefer having our money and financial instruments rather than the actual goods and services they are providing to us.
They are giving us actual things for the money the fed creates ex nihilo.
This is not the same thing as pointing out we should have local manufacturing and reduce reliance on global supply chains.
I’m not defending the Orange Doofus, just tired of seeing these debates being fought through the wrong lens.
I don’t disagree with what you said but there’s not 3.5 billion people in the US. There’s like 340 million.
The biggest thing I feel is rage and betrayal.
There are people in my immediate family who voted for those who think my disabled pansexual leftist ass should be literally murdered by the Gestapo.
That’s the betrayal.
The rage is that I’ve seen this collapse coming since I was a kid in the mid 90s. I was absolutely ready for this in my 20s. Now, I’m 40, disabled and can’t even stand white light for long or any loud sound along with a host of other issues.
And none of them listen despite telling me how smart I am my whole life. I take one baby step to show them a flaw in what they’re saying and suddenly I’m a naive idiot to them.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Is there an archive of this kind of data anywhere? I’d love to store this. I’ve already got a few wikis, including Wikipedia itself, but I’d love more
These people both need to sit down and have some empathy for each other.
They could be growing stronger together through their struggles rather than making it some competition about who is worse off. (Which, in this case, the guy has started by not empathizing at all)
My mental health struggles in no way invalidate someone else’s struggles.
I hate this kind of divisive bs.
Citizen Kane.
Yes it is circle jerked hard by film lovers… For good reason.
This is what I might consider the first movie shot in what would be recognized as a modern movie format.
It is told non sequentially, the composition of shots is absolutely incredible.
It’s a movie shot in 1941 that looks nothing like the other movies of the time. Literally decades ahead of its time. It looks like it could have been shot a few months ago as a period piece.
There’s good reason for it being one of the most acclaimed movies of all time.
The struggle is real.
I know this all too well.
