I love that one of the largest YouTubers is the one that did this. Surely, somebody near our federal government will throw a hissy fit if he hears about this but Mark’s audience is ginormous

I will go even ONE step further than others - if you are scared to start a software like Truenas scale that has a GUI has helped me. A lot of the options offered by others are great but can require a lot of command line stuff. There are a few OS’s out there that are more point and click that I had a lot of success with. Truenas scale runs the docker containers that others are recommending.

Tbh I think a lot of people bury that logical side deep down and compartmentalize. The narrative we tell ourselves can be quite powerful.

I just moved north to Minnesota and the cold winters have somehow kept malls alive. Nowhere near the mall culture of previous decades but maybe worth a trip North sometime, if you miss it

This reminds me of my experience with COVID lockdown. Obviously, a pandemic and the vulnerable being sick and losing over a million American lives (and much more globally) was horrible. But for a short time, it was incredible to see the amount of people just visiting parks in the middle of the day and enjoying the warm spring that year. Getting outside to nature was a way a lot of people coped with the isolation and it was beautiful in a way. Moms and grandmas were sewing cloth masks, distilleries switched to making hand sanitizer, people in my area began using local businesses more. There was a definite sense of community, even if it happened through FaceTime calls and social distancing. There are always silver linings to tragedy, I guess.

Son of a cop here: I don’t think moral, normal people police officers care a ton about the small possession charges unless it involves DUI or domestic violence of some sort. Catching truckloads of the stuff driving through the small town was a big deal sometimes. I hope/think that hasn’t changed much despite laws going back and forth. Now, to dickhead power hungry hometown heroes that join the force because they got chubby and became skill-less after highschool football, they probably have never changed their stance and will still find ways to tack on charges of public impairment

When I was a child I loved bionicles and worked all summer to raise $60 for this double set of dragon looking things. Better yet, you could combine them and make a hybrid monster. Somewhere in that process of creating the hybrid I realized it was too much work disassembling and reassembling and completely gave up.

Don’t forget that most baked goods and other foods rely heavily on the eggs in their recipes. Most food sectors are affected.

I have a pregnant wife who eats eggs every morning and it sucks. That and a ton of foods being prepped with eggs at some point makes the rest of food go up in price as well, I’d assume.

Immich! Backs up my phone pictures for my family with automatic backup through an easy app interface. Knowing my large album of photos on my phone won’t be tied to an endless growing subscription fees for…ever?!

They are testing the grounds with censorship. If their constituents don’t put up a fight for the largest streaming platforms on the web… sets up an easy path when they want to block a different platform for opposing views.

I would think this is pretty obvious since the majority of people don’t take caffeine in pill form and have no experience with it…

I use it in a lot of tiny ways for photo-editing, Adobe has a lot of integration and 70% of it is junk right now but things like increasing sharpness, cleaning noise, and heal-brush are great with AI generation now.
