Calibre installs fine (flatpak). I updated my post but I was able to change the temp directory which “fixed” it.
Just a guy not on Reddit

Appreciate the response, I updated my post but I “fixed” this by changing Calibre’s temp directory.
You were correct, I believe I “fixed” the error with Calibre by using Flatseal to add an environment variable CALIBRE_TEMP_DIR
that changed the Temp directory to something else.
It’s not in partition manager actually!
Not clear, the “drive” doesn’t show up in partition manager.
That makes sense, thank you! How can I clear up space in it?
How’d it get full then? And if it’s supposed to be 100%, any ideas on how can I get Calibre (so far the only app I’ve noticed that is giving trouble) to ignore it?
I commented elsewhere, but I do a lot of customizing and immutability has not proven to be even the slightest barrier for me in over six months now.
fwiw I am a power user by Windows standards (n00b by Linux standards) which is to say I tweak a lot of settings and do a lot of customization, and in six months of using Kinoite I have not encountered a single thing I wanted to do but couldn’t because of it’s immutability.
This is an excellent answer. Kinoite (basically the same thing as Aurora) is what enabled me to finally make the switch to full time linux a few months ago.
That makes sense but I just wanted to check. Someone else linked this to me but it appears at least one other open source project works with it https://github.com/rgerganov/shanocast
My exact experience too. Fedora “just works”. I especially like the immutable varieties for even more “just works (and continues to just works)-iness”
when you turn 18 you will be grateful there are people like me out there covering your lazy ass lmao
Windows 11 no longer “just working” is what made me finally take Linux seriously as an option and I am so glad I did.
I genuinely think it is ready for prime time. As I said elsewhere the concept of immutable distros is a game changer for those of us who like to customize but hate the command line
Immutable distros help tremendously with the “It just works (and doesn’t stop just worksing)” aspect. Fedora Kinote is what finally allowed me to transition from Windows. Literally zero issues for over eight months now and I am not a super techie person. I hate the command line and need GUIs.
Honestly I think an immutable KDE distro is going to be the windows killer for pretty much anyone looking to switch. It’s literally better than Windows in every way.
lmao are you trying to talk me out of working to help you?
There is so much you can do about it, here’s a simple suggestion: promote open censorship-resistant communication systems like Lemmy.
Got it thanks, I think it’s weird it shows up in Dolphin this way but at least I know what it is now.
