I’m working on self-hosting my own LLMs.
I realized there are things I wanna talk about and research but I don’t want to send it to open AI. Frankly I feel gross about how much I’ve sent to open AI. My desktop is a beefy gaming rig that I don’t use for gaming much. I have a 20thread core, 64gb ram, an Nvidia gtx 3060 and 5 spare TB so why not.
Now I want to work on giving the LLM access to my Google calendar so it can create reminders for me. I’m sick of forgetting to think about remembering to do things so I hope if I can just ramble at the LLM about what I’m doing or what’s on my mind it can organize my thoughts. What else are these LLM actually for?
½TB nvme SSD for the OS and any system/user level binary
1TB sata SSD for code projects, docker, and videogames
10tb HDD for just having a massive amount of fairly stable storage space. I gotta tell you I sleep really well knowing that at 4 in the morning a compressed disk image of my work SSD is being written to the hard drive.
My phone number was owned by a non-for-profit, and I’m still getting their calls 5-6 years later. Google Pixel phones have a phone-bot that picks up calls, introduces itself as a bot and asks you why you’re calling. So I just posted my phone number on my website to make sure people don’t think that it’s still the nfp
For your education:
Pacman like many other package managers tries to minimize network queries, to do this you download a manifest of every package available and its installation instructions. -Sy
downloads the latest manifest from all of your pacman repos, -u
installs the packages whose “version” field changed between the old and new manifests.
These error messages show that the domain name the manifest had for your package was unavailable, this is why you should check for updates.
If I have to put a thread object in a variable and call a method on it to start it then it’s OO multi threading. I don’t want to know when the thread spawns, I don’t want to know what code it’s running, and I don’t want to know when it’s done. I just want shit to happen at the same time (90% of the time)
I’ve always hated object oriented multi threading. Goroutines (green threads) are just the best way 90% of the time. If I need to control where threads go I’ll write it in rust.
I’ve been experiencing something like this too…
I’m really insomniac due to mental health stressors and chemical imbalances. I honestly might die if I don’t use meds to put myself to sleep for 2 weeks straight.
That being said my meds are correcting the chemical imbalances. And I get to notice as I try to fall asleep after a high stress day I’ll ruminate too hard and I’ll stay awake after the “put-down” pill wears off, (then I gotta decide to give up on sleep all together or damage myself more with another pill).
I’m not a doctor (just traumatized). Ruminations come from anxiety sometimes, try to recognize what you’re actually actually doing to prevent yourself from sleeping.
Genuine question: what would it take to poison an LLM with ai tools to run git push --force origin main
or sudo rm -rf /
In terms of chances:
When I’m actively doing something (not just on my phone):
That’s not how this works… you just go to a different instance like wtf?
I work from home in a house next to a highway, I regularly allow myself to scream outloud at the top of my lungs without any consequences. But I got a cat afew months ago and I don’t wanna scare him, then I loose control and scream at my work, and he gets scared, and then I cry and regret letting myself get used to doing that.
I had a really frustrating time when I was trying to have a SATA and m.2 drive. Turns out some sata ports cannot be used while an SSD is in a given m.2 slot.
Look up your motherboards instruction manual, it should have the rules listed out. Give them to chatgpt and ask it to tell you how to plug your drives in.
Jupiter’s Ascending… it was nice 👍
If I could have something magical: I’d like to be able to accelerate my thinking so I can have as long as I want to think things through
If it’s gotta be real: easier to use memory, I feel like I have no idea what’s going on bc I forget shit, but it’s not forgotten I just didn’t remember that memory at the right time even though I had it…
Talking to people hasn’t been going well lately
PC gamers moving to console? What’s next the existing consoles adopting keyboard+mouse?..
There is no downside to this
It’ll take me too long to find an example I’d stand behind so I’d rather comment a condition
AIs make the same typos that humans do bc they were trained on human writing.
Garbage in garbage out
I feel like there are billionaires in the world who manage to be rich without damaging society (or being the society).
If there’s one example then there’s no excuse for all the others to behave the way they do…
If all billionaires are the same then it’s past time to question why we have to put up with them
You’re allowed to hand wire breadboards with transistors and switches and capacitors and LEDs… You’re allowed to get shit done
