Kyriarchy encompasses sexism, racism, ableism, ageism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Catholicism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, classism, xenophobia, economic injustice, the prison-industrial complex, colonialism, militarism, ethnocentrism, speciesism, linguicism and other forms of dominating hierarchies

Anti-Catholicism? You mean the global formal hierarchy that’s solidly historically in support of fascism and against feminism? O…Kay. Why is that the literally only religion listed there? I get why you’d want to protect minority religious practices but why single out Catholicism?

  • Oh oh!!! I had the same experience but with an AMAZING anticlimax. So when the game came out it was only available for purchase in a localised version, with a horrible Swedish dub.

For context, Sweden has an official policy of not dubbing essentially anything for anyone over maybe seven years old. No other game I know of was translated even (except the sims), and certainly not dubbed. We made fun of how terrible and corny that version was for years. It sounded like morning cartoons for babies, probably because the same cast who did Sailor Moon and Pokémon did it.

I’ve never played the real version, and only sparingly played the horrific dub because the family computer wasn’t good enough.

  • people are always calling for the ‘year of the linux desktop’ and then turn around and do backlash to try to keep things obfuscated and unfriendly to the average human

To be fair to both of these groups in my impression those are usually separate people. People definitely have different visions for what good design is here.

The thing that strikes me as bad is when Unix conservatives (for lack of a better term) actively resists features to support use in modern, bit-mapped graphics as opposed to 70’s teletype terminals etc. But that’s just a terrible position, not necessarily hypocrisy, assuming they don’t care about Linux as the kernel in a desktop operating system for people whose hobby is not configuring their computer.

  • I’ve also set up both and in my experience Nextcloud is much much more complicated to set up but simpler to use and syncthing is pretty much the exact opposite.

In my case, a rather long time ago, it failed to reliably sync my files, had a super annoying web based UI, was a pain to get all my devices to talk to each other because because they had to join some sort of peer to peer network and authenticate with the earth other all three. It also didn’t have any working solution for mobile devices. Hopefully all of that’s fixed now because there’s no inherent reason it couldn’t work.
