I went to a feeding in a room a lot like this in StAugustine. I don’t think that clip is necessary, they were babies like this and were very careful to take even tiny pieces of cabbage without getting their teeth on you.
I’m just this guy. You know?

You are correct about the meaning being not to have other gods, I didn’t say it was a mistranslation. I said they are purposefully taking the alternate and more popular meaning of the word “before”. In the scripture it means ‘in front of’ or ‘in my sight’. They take the meaning as ‘in line in front of’. Because of the eccentricities of English and many other languages, the meaning could be taken either way if you didn’t have context. Also, the joke hinges on ignoring that mentioning other gods doesn’t mean they exist or exist in the way they are purported to exist. In that German translation from the post I was replying to, the translation was more specific and didn’t lend as much confusion.
The joke hinges on misusing an alternate meaning to an English word that is a translation already from ancient Hebrew (likely via Latin). I am pretty sure the artist is well aware of this. Of course, some people will read this comic and think they discovered some profound contradiction…
I don’t have a single problem with the word “application”
As is your right and duty.
Yeah, I thought I made that clear. I just don’t like it.
Oh, it is. It is… Sigh.
I fought hard against that for years. I still only use ‘app’ for phone programs, but I stopped correcting people every time they used the term for anything else. It isn’t technically wrong, but it grates on my nerves for some reason.
The best practice is to keep local ants. Almost all ant keepers suggest doing that. Also invasive ants that already have a foothold in the area is fine, like keeping fire ants for instance, though one should be more vigilant about keeping them in captivity and never risk letting them free. I would suppose new invasive should be only kept by expert keepers. I wouldn’t even say those experts should be zoos, just well trained. Part of that training might be that they would decide not to keep them at all. So there is that. Some ants can’t climb as well as others and are easier to set up confinements for. Some ants are nigh impossible to keep in or out…
Well, it seems obvious but some people don’t have hobbies I guess. I don’t keep ants, but I definitely see why someone would enjoy raising a colony of ants that are so different from what we normally have and why would be interesting. Keeping an ant colony healthy is a rewarding challenge and those ants have different behaviors and body types to regular ants. Look at that chonker of a queen, she is pretty beautiful on her own.
One queen is enough to seed an ant farm. Those are just particularly interesting ants, and hard to get. It is best to just have local ants for farms because then you can release them if necessary, but keeping interesting and exotic ants is more interesting than local types you probably see all the time, especially in areas without a great variety of local ants. 250 dollars for an exotic pet is pretty cheap really.
The neo-luddites are mostly bullies riding high on their vocal mob up voting anything they say. They started out blindsiding anybody having fun with AI in any forum and repeating these stupid arguments that wouldn’t pass as grade school logic if their pitchfork mob wasn’t yelling hurrah at any nonsense they spew.
That whole argument is stupid really. Nobody is using AI to automate things they would rather do…
Mario is a special breed of mushroom given false memories and a backstory so that they will grow to have a hero complex and protect the mushroom kingdom. Only one sprouts from the mother mycelium at a time.
Heh, thanks. Subbed.
does Lemmy have an imsorryjon community?
Good gravy, they should have used an edible flower for this comic. Some day a kid is going to try to make this sushi and snuff it.
Hilarious how so many people posted “Good, now do {insert social media it’s trendy to hate}.” on… social media. Same thing with the Australia ban for kids on all social media. The hypocrisy is palpable.
Around that time I was really interested in learning GO. I even made my own board. I also had no money, so there would be no chance that I would have bought this… but I would have lusted after it. (I still suck at GO.)
This is how people consume media now. They enjoy it and want more but will only say negative things about it and thrash around in the throws of mock disgust so strong that they start to actually believe their own BS. Well, at least that is how Marvel and Star Wars fans consume media anyway.
