I had similar stories getting Wireless Networking to work on some devices before. Good thing is, there are drivers for most, if not all, default hardware interfaces directly in the kernel nowadays and if a device has any sort of popularity it will be supported before long if it isn’t out of the box.

So they were trying to patch systems that use GRUB for Windows-only installs? What a load of BS. Why would anybody install GRUB to boot only Windows with that? Or am I overlooking something?

Ich kann aus persönlicher Erfahrung mit Projekten im Bundesumfeld sagen, dass ich die Kosten und Zeitdauer als relativ realistisch, vielleicht sogar sportlich sehe. Ohne das Projekt im Detail zu kennen vermute ich, dass es um einiges komplexer ist, die Warnmeldungen mit hoher Zuverlässigkeit an die korrekten Teilnehmer zu versenden als eine App, welche als Alarmierungskriterium bisher nur Kantone erlaubte. Wenn dir der Schreibstil des Artikels von SRF nicht gefällt, kannst du dir gerne mal die offizielle Medienmitteilung des BABS, sowie die 38-seitige PDF Broschüre mit detaillierten Informationen zum Projekt durchlesen, sodass du dir ein besseres Bild über die Gründe für die Zeitdauer und Kosten des Projektes machen kannst. Dort steht unter anderem, dass die effektive minimale Umsetzungsdauer für die Realisierung von CB auf 1.5 Jahre mit Kosten von ca. 12 Mio CHF geschätzt wurde. Der Rest der Kosten entsteht also nicht rein für die Umsetzung von CB sondern vermutlich im Koordinationsaufwand und Projektplanung.

Klar, 58 Mio CHF klingt nach viel Geld, aber ich kann dir versprechen, dass die meisten Projekte, die dir als schweizer Bürger unbewusst jeden Tag helfen in ähnlichem Rahmen umgesetzt werden und aktiv daran gearbeitet wird, diese Kosten zu minimieren.
