For me i relied on shock, awe and the fact I was twice this lad’s size.
But yes, metal stick/CS gas were options as well.

Infosec and compliamce/governance now. Left the police over 10 years ago

If killing two people isn’t something you think should get someone sent to prison then I’m concerned about you

I’m beginning to really not care about my brother and I feel like an absolute piece of shit for feeling this way.
He’s fallen down a rabbit hole of conspiracy psuedo-science and has been treating our mum like shit these last few months. Gas lighting her, not letting her see his kids, shit like that.

The only time showing up in person works in the UK is if you’re a teenager looking for part time or apprenticeship work in independent shops/hospitality/mechanics etc.

I’m ex-police (did 13 years - UK).
In 13 years of active patrol, (if you’re not counting stopping someone suspicious, searching them and finding some drugs/weapon) I probably stumbled on a crime in progress maybe two or three times. Only one of those was what you’d call serious and that was a kid threatening another kid with a knife as i happened to walk round the corner.
And a couple of shop lifters whilst I was in the security office having a cup of tea with the shop manager.
The hardest part about being a vigilante is actually finding the crime in the first place.
The second hardest part would be actually detaining them without any real authority. The knife lad dropped the knife immediately when I shouted at him. As a masked vigilante you wouldn’t have that authority. You don’t have any backup or anyone to call. And you dont have anywhere to take your captured criminal once you’ve detained them.

I’m hoping social media (the shitty algorithmic kind like facebook) vanishes.
Its a fucking cancer on society

UK - we preferred Gousto

I’d never leave public sector/government work for lower pay.
If you want job security, flexible working, decent conditions, good pension then (in the UK at least) you work for the government.
If you want good pay then you leave.
Leaving that job security for less money is, imho, absolutely insane.

Probably America. Employment rights are a fairytale over there

Every day. I have a dog and a job so staying inside isnt an option

Anything that encourages the sharing of small snippets of information, elevates the prominence of misinformation thanks to engagement algorithms and reduces discourse to simple 3 word responses have caused the most damage.
So facebook/instagram/tiktok/twitter.
Reddit wouldn’t count in my view. It encourages lengthier, more critical responses. Yes its an echo chamber in places but its also pretty easy to avoid toxic content.

Should have given it to Greta, just to really piss TACO

He even talked about fucking his own daughter if he had the chance

And my knees hurt constantly as the cartilage has worn away from doing too much stuff in my 30s

Can confirm. Cannot see anything

Gaming.
I’m just shit at it now. I used to love FPS games, now I can barely hit anyone let alone get any kills.

When i was in the police I’d often collect CCTV from store owners etc.
I’d usually supervise the download to make sure I only got what I needed. In my statement I’d reference that I’d supervised the download and that the footage hadn’t been tampered with.
It wasnt a big deal.
Adding on that as a compulsory requirement, or making it so CCTV systems add hidden info into the meta data wouldn’t be difficult.
Your boss should be talking to their boss
