It’s more complicated than that. As in Sam Hyde has actually been involved in some of this drama. The creator of this video didn’t include footage of him out of being a Hyde or MDE fan.

iDubbbz (Ian) did a documentary on Sam Hyde and they were both trying to make each other look silly with the footage they had. Sam released his edit but it took ages and a lot of pressure for Ian to release his side. After this, they had a falling out which later impacted Creator Clash and ruined Ian’s credibility.

Creator Clash 1 was successful, but Creator Clash 2 was very unsuccessful and ended up $250k in the red for a few reasons. One of the big ones is that Ian removed Froggy Fresh from the card (facing a tonne of backlash for doing so) and tried suing him over fees relating to the event simply because he was friends with Sam Hyde, and also over a joke Froggy posted online about signing up to Ian’s girlfriend’s OnlyFans.

Last year Ian released a video titled “I miss the old iDubbbz” which was kinda prompted by the backlash he got towards CC2. He effectively apologized for his old Content Cop series and for his old edgy humour and acted like he gained a tonne of empathy.

And then… He dropped a Content Cop on H3 about two weeks ago which proved his apology video was full of shit.

H3 (Ethan) used to be friends with Fr0gan and HasanAbi until October 7th, and then they had beef over their stances on Israel & Palestine, he and his wife (who served in the IDF because Israeli citizens have to do mandatory military service) got labelled a Zionist and had been relentlessly harassed ever since. One of the people in their circle spread false rumors that Ethan wasn’t cleaning up dog shit and was endangering his kids, and so actually maliciously called Child Protective Services on him. Ian of course omitted all context of this and spun footage in a way that made Ethan look like an unhinged asshole.

  • Look at it this way, I paid £3,290 per year in tuition fees to attend university back when I went. The price of tuition has since nearly trebled to over £9k.

If I paid £9k per year for online courses and was denied the student experience of actually attending a university campus (as many teenagers who went to uni during COVID had to), I’d be fucking livid!

  • Jokes aside, I prefer Burger King to McDonalds, and I think it’s because McDonalds came under a lot more scrutiny in my country and had been forced to tone down their menu and marketing. Maccy D’s were the ones who rapidly expanded in the UK and also made bank from Happy Meals and the child market, so of course they’d have all eyes upon them.

McDonalds are trying to make their menus and advertising appear healthier, whereas BK are like “look at this sexy dripping quarter pound whopper, you know you want it you fat fuck!”

And that’s why I can order a Bacon Double Cheeseburger XL from my local BK and feel like I’m actually eating a burger, whereas the equivalent in a McDonalds costs 30% less but is half the size, doesn’t taste flame grilled and looks like it was rapidly cobbled from preprocessed shit that’s less than 32% meat.

  • Wouldn’t say really enjoyed, but Cats didn’t deserve the hate it got. I saw it with my (then) girlfriend about five years ago when Frozen 2 was sold out and we had the choice of seeing this, Star Wars Episode IX, or Jumanji: The Next Level instead. We chose Cats.

I’m gonna ignore the elephant in the room that’s the atrocious CGI, and say that Tom Hooper didn’t do a terrible job besides that. Most of the movie adaptations of each song were at least on-par with the musical. ‘Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats’, ‘Bustopher Jones’ and ‘Skimbleshanks The Railway Cat’ were the three that stood out as the movie’s best songs.

Only three songs were far worse than the musical, and they were big ones…

The Old Gumbie Cat was awful. Rebel Wilson absolutely butchered Jennyanydots by portraying her as a fat lazy glutton, complete with awful voice, awful ad-lib jokes thrown around the song and a part where she literally starts munching on CGI humanoid cockroaches marching around the dinner table. I mean… as much as I hate James Corden, he at least played the role of Bustopher Jones (a literal aristocratic fat-cat) really well, and unlike Wilson, his ad-libs were actually funny. I’d keep him in the cast, 100%.

The Rum Tum Tugger is another bad one. Jason Derulo’s vocal performance was really weak, but I don’t have much else to say about it.

Magical Mr Mistoffelees was the worst though. Hooper legitimately took the most iconic song from Cats and massacred it by portraying the titular musician who ultimately saves Old Deuteronomy as a nervous wreck. This is one that the Rum Tum Tugger should have sang, like in the original West End/Broadway musical. I got what he was trying to do with this decision but it just didn’t work.

If I were in Tom Hooper’s shoes, there are four things I’d change:

    1. Redo the CGI
    2. Replace Rebel Wilson with Lea Michele. She is probably one of the best actresses who could play Jennyanydots.
    3. Replace Jason Derulo with Brendon Urie. Imagine Panic! At The Disco’s frontman singing the Rum Tum Tugger and Magical Mr Mistoffelees. 'Nuff said…
    4. Redo the three bad songs listed above to make them more like the musical.

  • Mastodon just sucks as a user experience. Your average Joe doesn’t give a fuck about federation, yet it’s the whole Fediverse crap that harms the UX.

I made the mistake of signing up to a smaller Mastodon instance. Place was virtually empty aside from the lead admin (bit of a pretentious asshole) and a few other guys, and if you decide to browse the All Instances view, you’re flooded with posts from hentai reposting bots. And when I saw the #loli hashtag in one of those posts I immediately noped out.

Threads is still in a really bad state well over a year later. Meta still haven’t implemented hashtags and trending topics (even Mastodon has these), and my feed is full of thirst traps.

Bluesky has it all, and was created by Twitter’s original founders.
