One thing about many early games is that they’re difficult. I haven’t a clue how someone can get through Super Ghost n’ Goblins or Battletoads. I had a game genie just so I can see the parts of a game that I would never be able to on my own.

I think it’s reasonable to go for a pretty standard flavor in that setting to have a reference point. I kind of do that with pizza, pepperoni the first time I try a new restaurant and if it’s good I’ll try other toppings the next time.

Sure. There’s no reason not to, considering the brain, which is a physical object. Everything we think and do is a product of the physical world.
Delusions and hallucinations are a thing. Ever feel your phone vibrating in your pocket when it actually wasn’t ? That’s a hallucination, nothing supernatural about it. Feelings aren’t a reliable way to assess reality, and relying on feelings to make decisions is a recipe for disaster.

JWs don’t go to college for that exact reason. It seriously is a way to keep people from leaving the faith. Frederick Douglass wrote about how slave owners went out of their way to keep slaves uneducated for a similar reason . He learned to read in secret and then was able to see many truths about the institution of slavery because of his education .
