I’m definitely not talking about putting aluminium foil inside the microwave because that’s stupid and dangerous.
I’m wondering if you cover the microwave in aluminium to lessen interfere or block interference by blocking the interfering signal with aluminium foil.
I can’t move my microwave because I already moved it from a spot before that made the door inconvenient to open and hard to grab food from and I live in a rental house so can’t move the jack
If it is leaking enough to effect wifi then you really should get a new unit if you could.
I wouldn’t cover it in foil as that will block the air intakes from cooling the unit.
What’s the purpose for this? How often are you microwaving that you’re concerned about interference? Have you actually noticed a measurable drop in speeds when microwaving?
OP wants to protect the microwave and the food therein from the wifi signal.
router: “I’m not locked in here with you. You’re locked in here with ME”
I used to have a Google speaker on top of the microwave and it sometimes lost signal for a bit while microwaving. But it picks right back up and normally you’re not microwaving for extended periods so it would seem a waste of energy to try and prevent it.
Yeah mine does the same to my Bluetooth headphones if I’m near it, but for like the two minutes that I’m microwaving my lunch, who cares. I want to know what the hell OP is using their microwave so much for.
My first thought is its not the microwave unless they’re multitasking TV dinners and League of Legends a few times each evening.
I just got this hunch it’s something like clogged channels or something, but OP thinks a microwave just sitting there is the issue. But that seems just as unusual.
Important questions
I mean don’t see why not, but you need complete coverage around it, including underside.
You could also try switching to 5 GHz wifi if your walls allow it.
Hasn’t your device a housing of steel already? This is a stronger shield against interferences than your aluminium foil.
It is unlikely to make much difference. How often are you microwaving food that a small bit of interference is worth the effort to do this?
Download a wifi analyzer app.
It’ll let you know which channels your microwaves 2.4ghz occupies. Google how to change your wifi to 5 GHz from 2.4. if not supported, just make sure whatever channel 2.4 vhz you’re on is nott the same as microwave
Provided you do not block any of the functions of the microwave, Buttons, door operations and venting, you will be fine.
No
Switch to 5ghz WiFi, microwaves wreak havoc on 2.4ghz
No. It looks too silly. Other than that, there’s no problem.
However, if your micronuker is interfering that much, you should get a new one.
Couple things. As long as its grounded to the microwave ground then its fine (yes even inside). Ur microwave is probably just too close to the WiFi antenna tbh.
I suspect what’s actually happening is the microwave transformer is leaking non microwave em radiation which is causing the interference (maybe via come capacitive coupling bs).
Either way I would test if a different microwave in the same location causes the same problems and if so its busted. If the WiFi antenna is near the microwave try moving it first.
