2nd rule of family gatherings: if you brought your own vehicle, do not park in your families driveway. You will get blocked in and that one uncle refuses to let you out because “we are just sitting here so nicely”. Always try to park in a public spot, or, if possible, in the street.
Alternately, take an Uber so you can leave when you want and drink as much as you need.
Or if you live in a civilised country, just take public transport.
That’s true and probably more practical. A few glasses of wine always helps xD
This also works with narcissists. Used to be friends with a dude who was a huge narc and one night we went to go hangout at a club and I met this one girl and we were hitting it off pretty good, but the thing is, my narc friend was the driver and his night wasn’t going so well. He made up some bullshit story about needing to leave, and since he was my ride and rideshare apps didn’t yet have service in the area we were at, I basically had to break things off with the girl I was talking to and leave with him.
Sounds like your friend followed the advice above.
