The first books the Nazis burned were scientific research notes about trans people.

    “forbidden terms”

…must be that “free speech” I keep hearing about. This is obviously a first amendment issue, right?

I don’t see the difference between the two pictures. Is the left one supposed to be black and white? And the right being in colour?

I’m so fucking scared. They’ve inhibited our movement by fucking with passports, they’ve defined us as dishonest and dishonorable in the EO kick us out of the military, they’ve codified the notion that our gender identity constitutes sexual deviance and poses a threat to children, they’ve attacked proven life-saving care, with a focus on children and an impact on adults.

and now they’re trying to book-burn us out of existence.

this is systematic dehumanization, the track record of which is grim.

There’s just straight up not enough of us to do this on our own.

If people don’t start standing up for us, we’re fucked.

non-binary people had been getting “X“ instead of M or F on their passport. The Trump administration will no longer allow those passports to be issued

Seems to be more than that, one person was outright refused any passport, even male, and were threatened with arrest if they asked any more questions. All paperwork (birth certificate etc) was kept by the office in LA.

They confiscated it, wouldn’t give it back and were threatening to arrest her. There are also reports of trans people that were renewing their passports by mail and told they wouldn’t be getting them back.

            Ugh.

You just know if it was someone sadly following the new requirements, it would have been a very apologetic taking of it and that would be the end, even if traumatic.

When they threaten to arrest them, they’re in on it.

The CDC has instructed its scientists to retract or pause the publication of any research manuscript being considered by any medical or scientific journal, not merely its own internal periodicals

The scope is thankfully limited only to CDC scientists.

Not that this makes it good news by any stretch.

This is going to push research money squarely under the thumb of corporate control, which is of course the aim here. Privatize everything.

I do know scientists hate having their work paywalled or censored so I’d expect sci-hub to get a lot more popular real quick, but many will definitely self censor their official publications to keep their jobs til orange hitler shoots himself in a bunker somewhere.

Anyone in the US please organise - join an anti religious influence group, protest, disobey. You must fight back.

    > On 6 May 1933, the Institute of Sexology, an academic foundation devoted to sexological research and the advocacy of homosexual rights, [transgender people, and women,] was broken into and occupied by Nazi-supporting youth. Several days later the entire contents of the library were removed and burned. The institute was initially occupied by The German Student Union, who were a collective of Nazi-supporting youth. Several days later, on 10 May, the entire contents of the library were removed to Berlin’s Bebelplatz Square. That night, along with 20,000 other books across Germany, they were publicly burned in a symbolic attack by Nazi officials on their enemies.

Don’t they know just because you’ve banned a word, doesn’t mean that the item or thing automatically poofs out of existence?

This is that easy. There’s a few words I’d love to ban. How about Elmo? And Turd

It’s just the first step. You don’t acknowledge they exist on paper or in speech. That makes it much easier to turn against them physically. It’s still up in the air whether or not they take the final steps of making their existence illegal. I think they will.

Wiping trans people from existence is easier for them to do when nobody is allowed to talk about them.
