I think about this whenever I pick up a spider or similar on my car. I’m transporting them the equivalent of entire planets beyond their perspective. What new world will I bring them to?

I was hiking recently and saw a massive caterpillar. I took a photo and asked our national biological office if they could ID it cos AI was doing a shit job (as usual).

They identified it and said that it almost definitely arrived as a seed or smaller caterpillar attached to a car and managed to find its way into the forest. They mentioned that they normally return with holidayers in the summer and don’t make it through the cold winter’s, but this may shift due to climate change. This thing was about 18 cm (7 American toes) long.

Crazy to see how much shit these critters can handle and still survive (for now…).

Is that 7 toes lengthwise or side-by-side? And which American toes? Lady liberty, or a normal human adult, or a child? Perhaps a newborn?

Man I hate our measuring system, it’s so complicated.

Are you a transplant here or something? Those answers are all clearly side-by-side Liberty toes. Real Americans are born with that knowledge.

See I mean that’s what I assume, too, but whomever starts their post with metric is clearly not used to the conversions into freedom units and so one must verify they did they math correctly. In case they are egregiously off the mark.

Imagine being a fish who gets caught by a human, and gets yanked out of his dimension and into an entirely different dimension, almost an opposite world.

Then the alien yanks the hook out of his lip, and throws him into the air…and he lands back in his own dimension, gasping for air.

Or, perhaps the alien takes him away…

Did you know fish can see through glass the same way we can see in? As long as it’s not curved glass they can see pretty clearly.

My car was made in Germany in 2010 and there is a perfectly preserved Munich fly in the taillight which is kind of cool

Why would the first owner not complain that a sticker price 70k car somehow passed quality inspection with this though

Nah, what you don’t know is that fly committed some fly crime and saw an opportunity to get tf outta there as fast as possible. London, here I come! Nobody will find me there MWAHAHA

Oh shit, we’ve added another Reddit feature, of people complaining about seeing the same post 100x despite it being upvoted by people who obviously never have! The “everything must only be posted ONCE!!1!!” feature, one of my favorites

I’m chronically online most days and I haven’t seen this on Lemmy yet, nor at all for that matter.

I hate when people whine about seeing stuff multiple times; at least this isn’t a depressing news article being shared in 63 different communities so you have to see the same thing dozens and dozens of times and be reminded how shit everything is…

It’s just a fun little picture with no bad vibes at all. I’m ok with seeing that sort of thing repeatedly.

I’ve been a Lemmy admin for over 2 years and browse daily. I usually sort by top -> 6 hours but I’ve never seen this

Maybe spend less time on Lemmy and go out to see the world for yourself instead of being envious of this fly living its best life.

Hey, not all of us can afford to see the world.

I’m so poor, I can’t even pay attention (fucking ADHD).
